The unbounded, genre-mashing DJ, producer and industry juggernaut, Diplo, is excited to announce the June 12th release of the Express Yourself EP on his label Mad Decent. The six-track recording from the man who makes up one half of the bombastic duo, Major Lazer, is his first solo release since 2004’s Florida and is a product of the artist’s fearless endeavors of exploring and unearthing new music from around the world. Spastic freak-beats tie the recording together but genres present span from Dancehall to New Orleans Bounce to EDM. The EP features a laundry list of exciting collaborations, from dubstep superstars Datsik and Flinch to Dancehall pioneer Elephant Man. Each artist brings something exciting and new to Diplo’s wild productions. The EP’s title track and Diplo’s first foray into the maddening beats and booty-popping sound of New Orleans Bounce has close to 900,000 plays on youtube and radio play across the US.

Astronomar’s simple but effective productions are bringing fun back to our dance scene. A formula that has seemed to been lost in the late 00′s til present day when huge “in your face” synth’s became common place. Back to the Beat caught our ear a while back when it was dropped by the LOL boys at one of the now infamous Well parties in DTLA. Swordfight is a new track with an addictive ascending synth drop and space sword fighting sounds and weird bells to fill out the rest. With a great tune “Got To Move On” on Discobelle already and a new release from Top Billin in the near future plus more, we’re very glad to add Astronomar to our family.

Mad Decent is proud to announce its very own “Mad Decent Volume 1″ compilation, featuring 18 tracks hand selected by label head Diplo from his favorite overlooked remixes of past releases plus a variety of new music from the label’s next crop of artists.

The compilation presents a selection of Mad Decent artist who’ve helped shape the label’s unique personality since its inception. Featuring blistering remixes of classics such as Bosco Delrey’s “Wild One” (Reset! Remix) and Maluca’s “El Tigeraso” (Sticky K Remix) to unreleased gems like Boy 8-bit “House on the Hill” and Dillon Francis’s “Beautician 2.0″, to in your face bangers like Rusko’s “Everyday” (Netsky Remix). Mad Decent Vol. 1 is as much a showcase of the label’s biggest names and tracks as it is an illustration of its incessant efforts to bring new genres and cultures to light.

The label has come a long way from the underground Philly scene where it all started, collecting a diversified group of artists along the way. From Blaqstarr, to Rusko, to Savage Skulls and PO PO, the sound and influences come from all over the world, and somehow work together to form a unified front of weirdos that make music outside the lines.

We’ve seen artists explode, interns come and go, bills forgetting to get paid, mix tapes getting us sued, and block parties going nationwide. Through it all, we’ve made a really amazing catalog of music, which is what this comp is all about. Following the release of their debut EP Qwerty we received many remixes from producers all around the globe. French electronic music producer Para One takes on their lead single “Ow!” stripping it to its basic elements while turning up everything that made the original such a club banger. LA based producers LOL Boys take a stab at “Superstructure” flipping into a tropical smash. Up and coming Italian producer Reset! stay’s true to his name giving “Folding Protein” a proper reinterpretation that stays true to the original while pumping up the rapid fire synths. Beataucue are the second French producers to destroy “Ow!” on the EP creating a track with more drops than the entire first EP combined. Each producer puts their own spin on the Qwerty EP tracks, raising the bar set by the original.
